Croxley Common Moor
Untouched haven for wildlife in Hertfordshire.

Events

Conservation work takes place on the second Sunday of every month (except November, when it varies). The meeting point for guided walks and April to August volunteer sessions is at the Croxley Common Moor entrance at the very end of Mill Lane, Croxley Green (after crossing both canal and river): postcode WD3 3EW, Ordnance Survey grid reference TQ 081951. For September to March volunteer sessions a notice on that entrance gate will describe the meeting point. Tools and gloves (and hats and goggles for scrub clearance) are provided. Suitable footwear (and long trousers and shirt sleeves for scrub clearance) are advisable. Under certain conditions ragwort can be poisonous to livestock which is why we remove it, and sessions are from 10am to 1pm.

Guided walks and conservation

Throughout the year but more frequently in the summer months you can join us on a free guided walk to learn more about the biodiversity on the moors. This could be to look at wild flowers in the spring and summer, bats and birds. All walks start from the Croxley Common Moor entrance at the very end of Mill Lane, Croxley Green (after crossing both canal and river): postcode WD3 3EW, Ordnance Survey grid reference TQ 081951. Walks last 1-2 hours. Keep an eye on this page where any future walks will be added but for now there are no more planned for 2025 while we focus on other maintenance activities mentioned above which you're welcome to join.
